Some events you may have missed in 2007:

Best of ASIFA-East
Saturday, Sept. 1, 2007 | San Francisco

Winners of the 38th Annual Animation Competition were screened at the Exploratorium’s McBean Theatre. Best In Show went to Don Hertzfeld’s Everything Will be OK.First Place in Independent Animation went to PES for Game Over. PES also won First Place in the commercial category for Human Skateboard, an excellent pixilation that you can see on their website.

The Excellence In Animation award in the commercial category was given to Hide and Seek. Second Place went to Pat Smith's Puppet, an excellent hand drawn work. Third Place went to David Chai’s Cole Needs Women. David teaches at San Jose State University.

Animator Duan Jia of the Beijing Film Academy visited the Bay Area with a program of films from China, including Te Wei's Feeling From Mountain and Water (1988) Zhou Keqin & A Da's Monkeys Fish the Moon (1981). Additional screenings took place at the Pacific Film Archive and The Rafael Film Center.
